The Story
My wife and I were having a romantic little dinner one night at a quaint little restaurant in Manhattan one December a few years ago and we got talking about the brownstones we couldn't afford to buy yet, the lifestyles we couldn't afford to live yet, and the dreams we thought we couldn't afford to pursue yet...but then it occurred to us that at least one of those dreams was already within our reach-and that was the dream of creating theatre, in its broadest sense and in the simplest terms. Sure, we envisioned having a brick and mortar theater one day-which would have a cupcake shop in front (one of my wife's additions to the dream)-but for now, it's about gathering together a passionate group of actors, writers, and directors to create and perform provocative new works of film and theatre, to shed light on the human condition with the soft warm glow of a pink bulb, and to continue and contribute to mankind's oldest and most enduring tradition: telling stories in the dark. The story of Pink Bulb Productions has just begun. We hope you'll be a part of it. Remember, everything begins with a romantic idea.
BEHIND A ROLLING BALL
BEHIND A ROLLING BALL is a cautionary tale of failed relationships in the modern world. It tells the story of two families in crisis unable to tell when danger begins and opportunity ends. The play opens with Nora Lee Lyn, a real estate broker, showing a house to Warren Hale and his wife, Jen Gordon, who are looking to move simply to “improve their happiness”. But when Jen leaves to pick up her 15-year old stepdaughter, Danica Hale, a student at the high school where Dave Lyn, Nora’s husband, teaches, Warren and Nora are left to address the white elephant in the room: that their respective spouses were once lovers and now have Danica as a reason to see each other once again. For anyone who has ever had to compete with a significant other’s old flames, Behind A Rolling Ball presents a darkly allegorical road trip that is ultimately full of hope and insight during this holiday season.
